Area Attractions Located at Indian Beach on the North Carolina Crystal Coast, our Summer Winds beach home is situated between Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach in the midst of nearby attractions. In addition to swimming, surfing, boating, fishing, golfing, restaurants, and shopping, some of the other "things to do and see" include: Cape Lookout National Seashore - Visit the Cape Lookout Lighthouse and surrounding beaches by ferry from the Beaufort waterfront. Crystal Coast Amphitheater. Attend the spectacular musical drama, "Worthy Is The Lamb," in the 2000-seat outdoor facility located on the White Oak River from mid-June through mid-September. Fort Macon State Park and Civil War Fort. Tour the exhibits and displays which offer a look into the lives of the officers and soldiers that inhabited the fort's restored quarters. Historic Beaufort and Swansboro. Take a tour of historic Beaufort and hear the folklore of this colorful seaport. Visit Swansboro, the Friendly City by the Sea, and enjoy the shopping and great food on the White Oak River. North Carolina Aquarium. See exciting exhibits and attend educational programs for both children and adults. Take home a souvenir from the aquarium gift shop. Wild Ponies at Carrot Island, Rachel Carson Reserve, Shackleford Banks. See the wild ponies grazing along the shoreline across from the Beaufort waterfront or take a ferry to the island for a better view. Water Activities. Make your reservation for deep-sea fishing and return with trophy fish such as blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish. Seven ocean fishing piers are located from Emerald Isle to Fort Macon. Prime surf fishing is available from Bogue Banks to Cape Lookout. Moreover, Bogue Sound provides opportunities for such activities as sailing, windsurfing, jet skiing, and more. Exciting shipwrecks, colorful tropical fish and frequent large animal encounters place Morehead City among the world's top scuba diving destinations. |
